•I have a completely different outlook into how I approach people. I listen more, say less and have an attitude that people have the answers. I let it unfold instead of trying to make something happen.
•I have a quietness that allows me to really listen and let a person's thinking unfold. I’m noticing when people are working with the intrinsic and the worth of being with them there.
•I’ve learned not to pay attention to what is merely apparent, and to look beyond to what the person is telling you and where they are right now.
•I realize now that making the choice to regard people as capable, creative and complete is important and how this choice really helps people.
•I’m taking away an awareness of turning down internal dialogue. I see myself with more patience, and I’m going into situations not trying to fix the problem, but handing it back to the coachee. It is remarkable that I didn’t have this. Before I was just going in, telling and handing out instructions. Now, I’m a different kind of coach (a better coach) and I’m a different person (a better person) with my family.
•I have more self confidence in knowing that I’m capable, creative and complete, and in turn meeting and thinking of other people in the same way. I’m allowing the listening to take place instead of trying to be a doer or a fixer of the problem. I let them do the thinking and express what they want. This is something I’ll take away forever.
•I have the ability to continually turn down my internal dialogue so I don’t rush in and fix someone. Instead, I'm pausing, letting the coachee's thinking unfold unto what they are looking for.
•Knowing that I don’t have to carry the burden to solve all the problems and answer the questions is a big relief. The person is the expert on themselves and only they can bring forward important learnings and thinking and have the ability to solve it. I also have an understanding of the words growing and unfolding and really appreciate that.
•I have a new way of viewing things. In not having to fix everything for everyone else, I feel more relaxed in my conversations and have a different internal dialogue. I focus on what they are wanting.
•I'm taking with me the awareness that we all have the ability to think intrinsically. I'm also focusing on letting things unfold instead of trying to make something happen.
•I have more patience in trying to let it unfold and letting other people provide the guidance for the conversation about their situation.
•I’m taking away the listening, and not chiming in and talking when someone is letting me know their story. I’m paying attention to the unfolding.
•I think what I didn’t have before and want to continue to grow is “the wanting” question. I hadn’t thought about this prior to the ICDS. That certain questions can elicit certain responses, and can effect communication with the person you’re working with. I will continue with this in my everyday life and not only with people I’m coaching.
•I’m taking away the choice to regard people as capable, creative and complete. When I did that [viewed people as capable, creative and complete]I realized people did have answers for themselves, and I can be there to support them in that.
•On a personal level, I've realized what I’m wanting in many situations. I’ve never really thought this way in the past and it has added quality and steps to my thinking. I'm also seeing others being enlightened to their ability to find the answers. It has opened an inner awareness.
•I have the ability to self manage. I used to be so reactive. I’m more laid back professionally, at home or even driving. I’ve gotten so much better at managing myself.
•I would like people to know someone heard them, didn’t judge them, but valued them in their experience, and that they took a step in their personal growth.
•I wish that people could have the knowledge that I have now, and for them to be able to use their intrinsic capabilities, and make the choice to regard people as capable, creative and complete. I want for others to have that ability and all the value that comes with it as well.
